Teeth Straightening

It’s the New Year and New Year resolutions are always on the cards. Have you considered one that will not be forgotten by the time March comes around?

Let’s talk teeth straightening.

Having straight teeth is not only a cosmetic procedure that enhances your smile and confidence but it also enhances the status of your oral health. Straight teeth are much easier to clean and maintain compared to crowded or mal-aligned teeth. Straight teeth can also correct speech problems, a traumatic bite and prevent further tooth wear.

Our dentists have a special interest in orthodontic treatment for both children and adults. Together with the Newtown Elite Dental team, she can work with you to achieve your New Year Goal of a stunning smile.

For children, assessments may be done from the ages of 7-9 when the majority of the front adult teeth have erupted in order to prevent severe cases from developing over time.

For adults, assessments may be done at any age. There is no such thing as too old or too late for you to achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.

At Newtown Elite Dental, we understand that our patients come from all walks of life and that’s why we offer a range of teeth straightening options that align with your lifestyle and specific dental needs.

Orofacial Myology

Normal facial muscle function and resting postures are essential for proper facial growth and dental development, speech development and breathing. Orofacial myology is an early intervention option to help re-train the facial muscles.  It can also correct issues such as mouth breathing, an open bite and thumb sucking through targeted exercises. This type of therapy in children is highly complementary to orthodontics, where addressing and managing the muscle imbalances that cause crooked teeth can achieve more stable long term results.

Orthodontic appliances

  • Plates or palatal expanders are used while a child is still growing to help to make space for erupting teeth or to correct jaw disharmony.
  • Traditional braces with either metal or porcelain brackets with 4-6 weekly adjustments to align the teeth.
  • Fast Braces, is a rapid treatment option that can straighten teeth in as little as 20 weeks.
  • Invisalign, if you’d like to achieve a more aligned look but don’t like the idea of traditional metal braces, Invisalign can help you get incredible results, discreetly. Your teeth will be gently moved into the proper position with clear, medical grade plastic aligners that are transparent and removable. With Invisalign, you can look forward to a beautiful smile with a comfortable and aesthetic treatment option
